Oracle Content Cloud or to give it is full name “Oracle Content and Experience Cloud Service” is what used to be called Oracle Document Cloud until the middle of February 2017. At Ether Solutions we hope that the name change made by Oracle Product Marketing is worth it and does not cause too much confusion. On this page, the term Oracle Content Cloud will be used as it is shorter and avoids an acronym of OCECS.
Alongside the name change, there are two categories of user. “Standard” user category which gives access to all of the document management functionality and the “Experience” functionality for web sites. In addition, there is the “Enterprise” user category which provides extra functionality for Digital Asset Management in terms of handling renditions, various formats, etc.
Managing documents properly in any company is something that is now more important than ever for a number of reasons. Recent breaches of security at large corporations has meant that secure document management is now a focal point of boardroom discussion.
As this is the case, more medium and large businesses are looking for better solutions when it comes to document management.
Here, at Ether Solutions, we are a partner of Oracle who offer what we feel is the best solution on the market for medium to large businesses when it comes to document management.
Oracle Content Cloud offers top of the line security
As mentioned above, secure document management is imperative. Some businesses are still sceptical of the security of various cloud platforms, but the reality is that the Oracle Content Cloud not only offers market-leading encryption, but also complete configurable control.
Unfortunately, one of the biggest risks to company security is staff mismanagement or negligence in handling documents. With the Oracle Content Cloud, your business can ensure that only the people you want to see the document have access to it, which limits the potential for a breach.
At Ether Solutions, we are on a mission to ensure that businesses are aware of the potential security breaches that could take place should casual use of free file sharing platforms be used for any file transfer.
When you use a secure platform like the Oracle Content Cloud, you can be safe in the knowledge that your files are not only being transferred securely but are ‘resting’ securely.
Cloud based sharing means complete access everywhere
It does not matter if it’s 3am in Singapore and you’re on your mobile or 4pm in London on your laptop you may need access to your most important files at any time.
One of the main benefits of the Oracle Content Cloud is ease of use. From ‘standard’ desktop access to tablet or phone access, as long as you know the credentials to access the file, you’ll be able to see it in the right format.
Micro sites and Intranet
An essential part of handling documents, images, videos, etc. is the use of the content in published context. The integration of Oracle Sites Cloud functionality into the service delivers the “Experience” part of Oracle Content & Experience. This provides the ability for the building of Micro web sites and Intranets that use the assets stored in the cloud repository. There is no need for writing code, so the whole activity can be performed and managed by business users. See this Oracle Demo.
API and Integrations
Oracle Content Cloud provides an extensive API that delivers rich access to the functionality. It is this API which enables the integration with other Oracle Cloud services such as Oracle Mobile Cloud, Oracle Process Cloud, Oracle ERP Cloud, Oracle HCM Cloud, Oracle Sales Cloud and Oracle Service Cloud. The features can be used by any custom script or by third party software.
HelloSign have created an integration with Oracle Content Cloud so that documents can be processed with eSignatures which enables document authorization to be delivered digitally.
It’s relatively simple to keep track of who has access to what files in a small company. However, this isn’t the case in larger businesses. With the Oracle Content Cloud detailed reporting system, keeping track of which staff members have access to what files is much easier.
This will ultimately save a lot of time and means that micromanagement on a large scale is not required.
At Ether Solutions, we are more than happy to talk you through all the benefits of the Oracle Content Cloud or answer your questions.
